Data Migration from TSUBAME1 to TSUBAME2

Manual Data Migration from TSUBAME1

All files stored in the TSUBAME1 storage volumes are backed up to the TSUBAME2 storage system.  平成24年12月末を持って削除されます。However, users who want to use these old TSUBAME1 files have to migrate their files to TSUBAME stoarge volumes manually.  This page shows the intruction of data migration from TSUBAME1 to TSUBAME2.0.

  1. Log in to an interactive node of TSUBAME2.0. Here, we denote the user account of TSUBAME2.0 as USER-ID-T2.

    $ ssh -Y login-t2.g.gsic.titech.ac.jp -l USER-ID-T2

  2. Then, log in to one of the data migration nodes (t2a010003, t2a010004, t2a010005, t2a010006) from the interactive node of TSUBAME2.0 by using the TSUBAME1 user account. For example, let the user account of TSUBAME1 as USER-ID-1, and the data migration node  to log in as t2b010133. Execute the following command on the TSUBAME2.0 interactive node.

    $ ssh t2a010003 -l USER-ID-T1

    Note: Ignore the follwing message, when you log in to data migration nodes.

    Could not chdir to home directory /home0/user1/tsubao: No such file or directory

    The data migration nodes (t2a010003〜t2a010006) mount both TSUBAME1 (/t1) and TSUBAME2.0  (/home, /work0) storage volumes.  The directories under /t1 are as follows:

    home0〜home5, home_bk0
    work, work2, work_bes, work_bes2, work_bes3
    archive1, archive2
    depot1, depot2
    iwork1〜iwork4, ihome, iwork

    For example,the /home/target_dir directory in TSUBAME1 is mounted as /t1/home0/target_dir in the data migration nodes.

  3. Copy their own files on the data migration node by using scp command. Let the user account of TSUBAME2.0 as USER-ID-T2,execute the following commnad.

    $ scp -r /path/to/target_dir USER-ID-T2@localhost:~/path/to/target_dir

    Note1: You can also use rsync command.
    Note2: Specify localhost as the destination host name.

    Ex1) Copying TSUBAME1.0 home
    When you copy your TSUBAME1 home directory, first, you have to collect the path name of your TSUBAME1 home directory by executing the following command:

    echo $HOME

    Here, we assume the path ($HOME) as /home0/user1/tsubao. Then, execute scp command to localhost by using your TSUBAME2.0 account as follows:

    $ scp -r /t1/home0/user1/tsubao USER-ID-T2@localhost:~

    Note: Available home storage volume size in TSUBAME2.0 is up to 25GB.You can not copy your files with over 25GB to your TSUBAME2.0 home volume. If you need more storage volume size, we have group disk volumes provided as paid services.

    Note: We have a script program to copy your TSUBAME1 home directory to ~t1-home directory in new TSUBAME2.0 home. Execute the following command in a data migration node.

    $/t1/GSIC/bin/restore-t1-home -l USER-ID-T2

 How should I do if I forgot the password of TSUBAME1 account?

 It is necessary to reissue TSUBAME1 password in order to access the area of TSUBAME1.

In addtion, it may cost several days because the TSUBAME had been stopped and we have to modify password data of TSUBAME1 by hands.  Please download the Password reissue application form and write down the necessary information, then submit it by yourself.

And the submitting sections are as follows,
